About & education
I’m a Senior Lecturer and Anatomy Lead at London South Bank University. My work combines clinical anatomy, medical education and clinical practice with a particular interest in connecting anatomical understanding with examination, imaging and diagnosis.
Alongside my academic work, I maintain clinical practice in musculoskeletal imaging within Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This provides an important connection between my teaching and contemporary clinical practice.
Clinical anatomy & medical education
My work in higher education spans anatomy teaching, curriculum development, assessment, postgraduate education, course validation and professional accreditation.
As Anatomy Lead, I contribute to the development and delivery of anatomy education across health-related programmes. My teaching uses a range of approaches including surface anatomy, imaging, prosection and dissection, with an emphasis on clinically relevant anatomy.
I also teach within the Medical School at the University of Cambridge as an Anatomy and Ultrasound Demonstrator, contributing to imaging-based and practical anatomy education for medical students.
Connecting anatomy with clinical practice
My clinical background continues to influence the way I approach anatomy education.
Alongside my academic role, I practise as an MSK Sonographer within the NHS. Before moving into higher education, I worked clinically across musculoskeletal practice, including professional football and private practice in London.
These experiences have shaped my interest in the relationship between anatomical structure, surface anatomy, physical examination, imaging and diagnosis.
Ultrasound is particularly valuable within this work because it provides a way of exploring anatomy dynamically in the living person. I use it not simply as a diagnostic modality, but as one of several ways of helping learners understand three-dimensional anatomical relationships and their clinical relevance.

Developing postgraduate programmes
At London South Bank University, I have led the development, validation and professional accreditation of two postgraduate programmes.
I have also worked as an external consultant for other UK universities, contributing to the development of postgraduate programmes that subsequently achieved successful validation and professional accreditation.

Contributing to academic and professional standards
Alongside teaching and clinical practice, I contribute to academic and professional work through editorial leadership, professional accreditation and external academic review.
My wider roles include editorial responsibilities, accreditation work with UK professional bodies, external examining, peer review, invited teaching and educational consultancy.
I am a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and was shortlisted for Lecturer of the Academic Year 2025/26 within the School of Allied Health and Life Sciences at London South Bank University.

Anatomy education across institutions
Alongside leading anatomy education at London South Bank University, I contribute to anatomy teaching within the University of Cambridge Medical School, including practical anatomy and imaging-based teaching for medical students.
I also contribute to invited teaching and educational activities beyond my home institution, with a particular interest in clinically relevant anatomy and the integration of anatomy with imaging and clinical practice.
